Challenge: accurate manufacturing

Manufacturing this component is a question of precision. Without the exact measurements, the customer’s product will not work.

The customer contacted us with a drawing that contained challenging geometries and low tolerances.

To reach the needed measurements and tolerances corresponding to the ISO 2768-fH standards, two factors are essential: high-quality CNC machining and detailed quality control.

"He wants me to state as a mechanical designer he is impressed with the quality of this rapport, and this case is showing a supplier with strong competences."

Result: a complex part with a solid surface

This part, for high-end spectrometers, is made of aluminium alloy 6082-T6. Using CNC milling it is possible to reach low tolerances, high precision, and demanding measurements.

The component is anodised matt black with a coating thickness of 10-15um. This gives the part a surface coating that is integrated with the underlying aluminium and therefore does not chip over time.

About the customer

The customer manufactures and delivers spectrometers for measurement in healthcare and agriculture amongst other industries.

The use of their products requires high precision, not only for the sheer functionality of the product but also to ensure the accuracy of the client’s measurements. With reliable and exacting solutions, the company contributes to advancing product quality and development in various industries.

CNC milling – what is it?

CNC milling is an advanced manufacturing technique that involves computer-controlled machining and a multi-point cutting tool.

This method takes a CAD model as a starting point. A material block is then positioned on a machine bed, and the desired product is cut out.
